Oh, What a WONDERFUL Summer

Our first season of Wondercamp in 2024 was filled with curiosity, imagination, and FUN!

Across the nation, our community of schools embraced a new summer camp experience that included many different opportunities for children of all ages to use their natural sense of wonder to play, develop, and grow alongside their peers.

From creating sticky, slimy textures during Wonders of Mess Making to exploring the beauty of growth and nature during Wonders of the Garden, children were able to work collaboratively to experience the world around them in many engaging and memorable ways.

Wondering what kinds of things we did in the classroom? Here are a few highlights of the experience to give you an idea of the hands-on opportunities children had to learn and play:

  • EXPLORE – Children marveled at the world through different topics. They explored ways to be inventive. They tried different techniques in craft and understood material properties through messy materials. Children built a stronger relationship with nature and ways to transform themselves through dramatic play.
  • DISCOVER – Children used creativity and critical thinking skills to think deeply about a weekly topic. They learned to activate their minds through hands-on experiences exploring the wonders of water, nature, sound, and more. Children developed their ability to question, investigate, design, and communicate their experiences.
  • WONDER – Examples of Wondercamp’s inquiry-based approach to learning include representational (observational) drawing, recording experiences and observations of a focused topic, using materials as a language of expression, exploring open-ended and process-focused experiences, and asking questions and reflecting on learning.

We hope to see you next year! Registration begins in early 2025. Follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and/or Pinterest) to see more snapshots from school experiences during every season, as well as helpful resources from our Education Team.
