Let’s get to know Miss Wendy, Lead Pre-K Teacher at Childtime in Centerville, OH.
Tell us about your career at LCG.
Miss Wendy: I’ve been with Childtime for over two years now, but I’ve been working in early childhood education for 34 years. I’ve worked with every age group from infants to school age.
When I moved to Ohio, I applied for a role at Childtime, and from the moment I walked through the door I knew I’d found my community. I had a good feeling that this was where I was meant to be. My first role at Childtime was an Assistant Teacher in a Toddler room. Now I’m a Pre-K Lead Teacher.
What brought you to work in early childhood education?
I always wanted to be a teacher growing up. When I was a little girl playing “school,” I was always the teacher.
What training opportunities have you taken advantage of at LCG?
I renewed my CDA® (Child Development Associate) which was an amazing perk from the company. I also participated in the Master Teacher program*, which is a wonderful program. I learned so much and I’ve never seen a program like this offered before. To me, being a Master Teacher means that I’m able to be a resource to other teachers and that is an incredible feeling to be able to be that for someone else.
*Note: This exclusive program is offered annually to a select group of nominated, eligible teachers.
How has participating in the Master Teacher program helped you in your career?
I’m always looking for ways to continue learning. I’m currently finishing up my bachelor’s in Early Education. So when I was looking at the programs that are offered at LCG, my the Master Teacher program stood out. My aim is to be the best that I can be, so the children can be the very best they can be.
What makes you stay at LCG?
I love what I do and I absolutely love the children! Here at LCG, I see room for growth and that is my goal. I hope to get to another level here. Maybe one day I’ll be a Director!
